Code snippet in my header. How do I get it out?

Can anyone help? Not sure how it got there but there is a portion of an html snippet visible in the home page header and I am not sure where to go to get at it.

    open the html file and find the code snippet that shows up and delete it or close off the tags properly.

    Do what was told above, if its wordpress, edit the header.php file of the template folder
