Can You use Clickbank for License Based Software?

I have a question selling a software product using ClickBank: What I have is a product that for want of a better term is "Cripple ware", that is it has a free demo mode where there is an advertising banner shown, and some of the functions are not available.

When a 1048-bit RSA based encryption keyed license file is added, the software becomes fully functional and the banner goes away. What this means is that the actual sale is for the license file which also contains the users personal information (name, address, phone, email, etc) - which makes it unique to that user.

My question is, how can ClickBank be used to sell this kind of software/license so that the affiliate Network can be utilized?

If this has been answered on another thread, I apologize, please just refer me to that thread. Thank you for any light you can shine on this issue!

Sorry, not me. I use PayPal and Authorize.net. I think Clickbank themselves would probably give you a better answer because they have rules what you can or can't sell. That's where it'll get hung up. If they allow it, then technically this is possible.

I don't see why not though because electronic products is one of the requirements - or was that 2CO? Forget. Think I've seen some software using Clickbank too. But don't take my word for it.

Hi, David. I suggest you check out the facilities offered by E-junkie. They integrate with ClickBank as a payment processor and they offer several ways to generate unique codes and files for delivery to customers.

Read this E-junkie FAQ and see whether their method can be adapted to your requirements. I expect that it can, as I did something similar a couple of years ago.

      I hope this helps.

Could you use Clickbank's Instant Notification System ?

A sale triggers a form post to your license server which could then generate the license file and email it directly to your customer. All 100% automated.

The system can also notify you of refunds and charge-backs, enabling an opportunity for you to revoke licenses.

        Code samples on the page.

    Lynette, Steve, Phil,

Thanks goes out to each of you - I was completely unaware of ClickBank's Back-end notification system, The last time I dealt with them they did not have such a system, you had to host your electronic product on their site and there was no way to create a license.

This is precisely what I am looking for: My intention is to run Tomcat or JBoss on my home server and generate licenses based on the form post as you said. I would be using paypals API in the same way for direct sales.

    Awesome! Again thanks.
