It all depends on what kind of affiliate management system you're using.

If it's a third-party service like ClickBank or PayDotCom, then just take a look at how other vendors are doing it. Usually they simply supply the banners and ads, plus instructions on how to create one's affiliate link.

If you're running your own affiliate program, using a script like Jrox Affiliate Manager or iDevAffiliate or aMember Pro, then you'll find a section in the administrative area that's already set aside for adding these kinds of resources to an affiliate page that's also already defined. It will create affiliate links automatically for affiliates who go to that page. If this is your situation, read the documentation for your program.
