Defer Java Script and Specify Image Dimensions

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post my question, but here it is. I analyzed my website using Google PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix, and the two most important recommendations were:
1. Defer java script
2. Specify image dimensions.
I have found plugins for the first recommendation, but they have low ratings. I am not a coding expert, so I'd appreciate a simple way of fixing these two problems. Thank you.
