I just cannot get my head round this. New to wordpress, ok with php:

I'm using a filter for the content to detect a string and take action if it exists, this works just fine. Different posts will have different strings, and unique action is taken depending on that post's string. The problem is when you switch on the widget 'recent articles' and then all that content is also filtered, producing unpredicatble results. I need to detect whether the content that is being filtered is the actual post, not the recent articles.

In other words how do I detect a post within the content if the content includes all the excerpts?
