  • Bots will always attack your website. That's just something that you have to expect when you run a public-facing website; there's really nothing you can do to stop them from attacking.

But just because you're being attacked doesn't mean that the attacks are successful. This is why it's so important to make sure that the software you're running is secure and up to date. You can also ban suspicious traffic by IP address or user agent (though both of these measures are easily circumvented). You might also look into using a web application firewall: Cloudflare, Incapsula and AWS all have WAFs that vary in cost, capability and setup time. Another option is using something like Apache's mod_security.

    For more information see:

    https://aws.amazon.com/waf/

Yeah got to love spam bots!

If your running google analytics and it's really messing you up try this!

    1. Go to filters
    2. Then choose custom
    3. then select campaign source
    4. Then enter the spam bot url with you can get from traffic insights.
This will stop analytics counting this crap stuff

    • I am sorry you are gettign whacked by bots, there is an easy way to sequester a bunch of them.

Just build and invisible 0x0 iframe place it near the top of the page.

once the bot clicks it will get sucked off to where ever you point it. Just block the IP from coming back.

I'm guessing you don't know what proxies/VPNs are, or that bots are software which are portable meaning they can run on thousands of servers/desktops.

  • To secure your site from bots, go to your .htaccess file and block the bots. You can find out the broken links, URL errors, crawl stats, site maps and blocked URLs from webmasters.

Fight on bots: Install Google Adsense Click Fraud plugin in wordpress site, it contains all clicks of the site. It identifies IPs of clicks, if clicks crosses specific number and then blocks the URL. Means, the clicks are from spammer.
  • I've been using Incapsula (CDN and WAF) and its very good. Even the free version blocks hundreds of bad bots and attacks.
  • "Bots will always attract to your website. it is common phenomenon.Haters are every where around the world.Hire a freelancer
or go to wordpress training to start your own website..Use SEO to get traffic.. I will not suggest you to buy a
    website
    "
  • Block the "good" bots with robots.txt, and block the other bots by their UserAgent/IP.
  • I've had same issue in the past, results were so bad and traffic spikes was taking my site down. I had to get some help from an expert programmer, he developed a plugin called Fake Traffic Blaster for WordPress, it's aviliave for free at wordpress.org plugins directory.

This plugin deals with fake web traffic bots and eliminate visits of IE browser, which most of attacks come from.

I suggest installing and activating the Fake Traffic Blaster plugin as a temporary solution to help you defend your site till you come up with final solution for the issue.
  • hello i've question if i will anti ddos protection my website help me to protect from bots to??
  • Hey mate, you can go to your .htaccess and block all spam traffic going to your site.
Use tail command to watch your logs in realtime
With that command you will see all domlogs in apache

Also here it is a list of bad bots for your site, I got the same problem and this worked:
  • There are controls inthe Google Analytics filters you can use: More here: https://moz.com/blog/how-to-stop-spa...-referral-data
  • You can use the WordFence plugin on WordPress and have a look at CloudFlare who will filter out a lot of bad traffic for you for free.
