How important is it for marketers to learn HTML/CSS in today's Marketing profession?

by wartest 16 replies
I have been trying to teach myself HTML and CSS.

What I want to find out is:
Is it a skill which a Marketer should have some level of familiarity with?
Are there any marketers out there who can honestly say they are experts in HTML/CSS?

Sounds like you think html & css is difficult to learn. It isn't difficult at all.

You don't even really need to learn, just start using it. It's very easy.

It will definitely make your life easier if you're working with websites.

    You should know HTML/CSS.

You don't need to be an expert. You need to know enough to get the job done. I know how to drive a car. I've never won the Indy 500 (expert driver). I still drive cars and get from point A to point B. Goal accomplished.

With tools like Shopify, wordpress and all the themes, clickfunnels etc....I don't see why someone would need to code.

  • For marketers the skills of HTML and CSS are necessary. You cannot change the contents of the website without HTML and CSS. You cannot always ask the developers to make small changes in the website and learning HTML and CSS will give you an edge over others and you'll not have to look up to others for help. Codes like analytics, re-marketing, tag manager and further verification of websites, adding meta tags all requires knowledge of coding. There are countless tutorials on the web about learning basic HTML and CSS. HTML and CSS ar very easy, you can easily learn it in a short period of time.

I would say yes. If you have the time to learn it, then do it.
It's basically nothing compared to all the other languages that come after that.
I found it easy to comprehend and learned it in about 2 weeks or so.

It gives you a huge advantage in all sorts of specific areas. HTML will always be the backbone of the web.

Every additional knowledge will come in handy someday even if you don't see it today. But even without that knowledge you can find a path these days. You can use Wordpress, site builder like optimize press, some plugins and that's it.
