WordPress database size difference issue

Hi guys,

I am facing an issue in cpanel of my WordPress blog. I want to backup and download the database of my site as I am changing the hosting of that blog. When I click on MySQL Databases it shows the database with size 61.29 MB but when I go to PHPMyAdmin and open the database it shows the size 19.9 MB. After downloading it by clicking export and extracting it on my PC it shows the size about 10 MB. What is the reason or what is wrong with it? Please help me with this..

    Look at the row counts on the tables. Do those numbers match?

    You didn't say If the downloaded file was compressed.

    This may look stupid, But why don't you just go and export and install it on your new host see if everything working as expected. I think till you find a good answer here, You would have solved the issue your own.

    Hello,

    Do not use phpmyadmin for more than 5 MB databases.

    If you have access remotely to both databases, there are some programs which you can carry database from one to another.

    If you can not find a solution, or can not make, send me message with details over skype or email, I can carry database for you.

    Sometimes it depends on how you export it, as it is mostly always compressed (and depending on your selections upon exporting). As long as all the tables still show it will work fine. It'll also show a larger looking size within the database, but the download file should be smaller. And if it's not the same size on your PC then it most likely have cut out through the downloading process. Because when you download a file the browser will tell you the file size and this should be the same when completed on your PC. I hope this has helped.

    You can always use the Backup section in Cpanel to take a backup of your database, in most cases this the best place you can download the complete version.

    on the other hand you can use a good wordpress plugin to do the job for you. you can use this famous plugin for instance: https://wordpress.org/plugins/backwpup/

    It can take a complete backup of both your files and database.

      Try to use Sypex Dumper for MySql database backup. It's a nice and reliable program.

    Thank you so much guys. I have successfully downloaded and installed it. The issue with the size remained there and when I uploaded the database on new host, I came to know that some images were missing.. Anyways I manually uploaded the missing images afterwards. Thanks again for helpful replies.
