What is XMLRPC.php file in Wordpress website?

Hello!
In my wordpress blog website i found url like: http://www.example.com/xmlrpc.php in head section. What is the use of this url or file? If i remove this from head section then their is any problem?

XMLRPC.php file is needed to posting directly on your blogs using clients such as TextMate and Flock. It is also needed for receiving ping-backs and trackbacks to your site from other blogs. If you have no need for ping-backs, trackbacks or remote posting you can delete the file, but I would suggest to rename the file to something instead of deleting the file completely.
