Hiring a programmer

Hi,

We are starting a niche auction site using a popular auction software that meets 90% of our needs that is written in php/mysql. I have written such a website in perl/cgi 20 years ago but stopped programming and never did the switch to php and databases so I need some help until I master php.

Where should I look to find a programmer to do the job? I went to guru and peopleperhour but I find their contracts are good for one-time shoots and we need long-term relationship.

For the start we need someone who can handle a few PHP minor script modifications, then script writing for new functions and support the mysql databases on a regular basis

We plan to run two sites. One in test and one for real. On different servers.

Any advice on which other doors I should knock at to find a freelancer or contractor?

Thanks
