Tips for standing out during a job search

I want to get a remote programming job as a junior. I know it's not typically adviced but I believe I can do it. Of course getting the job will require more than that.

Do you guys have any tips for standing out as an applicant for competitive positions like (but not limited to) fully remote ones?

If you don't have, create a github account with your best pieces of code. Example: https://github.com/bcaccinolo

Do you have your own website where you can demonstrate your skills?
Do you have a current resume?
There are lots of ways to get work.
    Build your LinkedIn profile.
    Create a Facebook Page.

When people are looking to hire, it's common to check their online presence before doing anything.

Perhaps there are some free courses you can do to build your skills.
Look at jobs you want to apply for and read selection criteria. If you have weak areas, work on improving them.

I think that's enough to start with.
I am a former recruiter which is where some of those ideas come from.
