WP Newbie, Feature post plugin won work.

Hi there, I'm a newbie with Wordpress and do not know much html or any other programming. I'm trying to install a featured post plug in for wordpress. I choose the "Random Featured Post" plugin. I've installed it, activated, and inserted a code into the index.php file, but i does not work. I'm stuck, any other plugins i should try or am I doing something wrong.

Another note: A guy that was helping me told me that a plugin was already installed, here was his instructions but I do not understand what he is talking about. Where do I put the image url?

  • It should be as he desribes.

    Go into your wordpress admin area and edit one of your posts.

    Where you have the area you type in, scroll down below that are there is a section for custom fields where you can enter your own details, as he has written down, as you can see in this image.

    In the 'key' section, just type in 'articleimg' and then paste the URL into 'value'.

    Once you have added the one, 'articleimg' will appear in the key dropdown list.

    • Yes I did get it working, but there were some bugs when i tried to use just an excerpt from the featured post, the read more link was wrong and went to a different post. So I just changed the setting to make the featured post the entire full post, not sure if I like it that way but it works. Got any ideas on how I can fix that read more link?
