WordPress Issue - Getting Error After Install On Certain Domain - Installs Fine On Other Domains

Asked this question on the WP forums but no response yet and I'd like to get this taken care of soon.

I keep getting an Internal Error when trying to install a blog on my one domain. It's only on this domain. I am able to install blogs on other domains.

Uninstalled and reinstalled 2 times. Still same error.

Hosting company is HostGator.

Here is the error I get...(live version at vagabond [dot] com/blog)

Code:
Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, emailhere and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I read something on the forums at WP.com about .htaccess. Could that be the problem?

Anyone have any idea what is going on here?

Thank you.

  • Have you tried deleting the whole directory named blog?
If that doesn't work contact the help desk. That's what you pay them for.

  • Have you looked at your .htaccess. There could possibly be some malformed text in there which is causing your 500 error.

Oh and if your talking about the blog here

I would try following the information on the page. Check out the server log right after you load this page, and post what it says. It is usually pretty informative.

    • I deleted my .htaccess file as I read on the WP forums that sometimes that can be the problem.

Can't get into my admin to check server logs. And if that's something you check in cPanel, I checked there. Nothing.
  • Did you check Error Logs under the Logs section in cPanel?

  • I contacted HostGator. It was a permissions problem. It works now.

Thanks for offering to help. Appreciate it.
