Hosting multiple domains with Hostgator Baby package

In order to use hostgator to host multiple domain names, you have to go through the whole add on domains to the root domain. This is basically adding a subdomain only it has the appearance of an entirely different website.

My question is this.. Does this have any negative effect on SEO and search engine rankings?

Thanks

Seth

    No impact whatsoever.

All the search engines see is that there is a bunch of domains all hosted on the same IP address.

Don't worry about that becuase, if you did a bit od reasearch you might find that there are something like 5000+ domains all associated with that same IP address..

Just the way hosting companies work.

So, to answer your question, no negative impact whatsoever..

    Hope this helps

It should not make any difference. SEO does not look for IPs.

It will not affect. Since Hostgator baby package is a shared hosting package and there are many domain hosted under same IP. Thus, it does not have any significant SEO disadvantage.

Multiple domain web hosting is basically a small reseller web hosting plan which allow you to host additional domains (different web sites) on the same account. Hosting providers ranked by the best price-value ratio. Host reliability, uptime, key features, bonus features, customer support, past and current user feedbacks, user-friendliness and hosting awards have been taken into account as well.

I have a baby package too. One thing I do when I add subdomains is change the default folder to be under the root directory instead of the www directory where your main domain is.

There is a negative impact if you interlink your properties.

This is news to me -- I always thought that unique/static IP's were necessary for each domain to maximize GoogleJuice.

abs007 and jeffam are saying there IS a negative impact interlinking properties; could someone please explain?

    Thanks,
    Paul

same IP shall not interlink each other, or else th google robots will deteced the same IP for a lot of domain link to each other, try to host other to link to different IP domains will be better

Google is starting to hit hard for this if they are connected sites. We had up a blog farm for a few years and all were doing well then one day they all were dropped from Google. We spread them out across different networks and this moved us back into the top 10 pages. But we were 1st and 2nd pages before the hit. Google now even compares domain reg info. If the sites are relevant in content on the same ip. That may be a flag also.

Yeah, it doesn't make a difference.. To tell you the truth there are 1000's of "small" packages on that server.. It's called shared hosting. Spiders etc, just look through domains NOT IP's.

baby plan is great to host all your sites.
I personally prefer to use a reseller account and this can be done once you have a bit more cash flow.

I find it is easier to manage my sites with a reseller account and when I want to sell a site it is a cleaner transfer.

    Cheers

Many of the training programs say to start a sub domain. I hope they are right.

Can parked domain hamper the site's SEO performance in search engines?

    ------------------------------------

    HostGator Support

"According to Google, the preferred method is to use an addon domain and then 301 redirect the addon to your primary domain.

So, yes it may. A parked domain may be considered duplicate content, though only the search engines know for sure. Duplicate content is not bad, and in the case of cPanel parked domains, it may not have any side effect at all. Some people worry that Google will rank one page from one domain, and another page from another domain, thus distributing their potential rank into multiple domains; however, this is highly debated.
