i have uploaded text, image etc into public_html. All there I can see them but none are loading. I do not know if its my browser Firefox, so I changed to IE. I do not know if its the Host site Blue Host, but they its not but cannot help. I am thinking of transfering the site to Hostgator to see if its the host fault. I do not know what to do on this, I am not very techy but am losing money. Can anyone help please, I have uploaded before and never had this problem.
Thank you
Jo

    • sdnsoft, I do not know what that means. If they are sensitive, what should I have done.
      Thanks
  • Jo, Have you checked the paths to the images within the browser?

Try right clicking the page with the images on and view the source. Take the images links out and paste the image link direct into the browser url bar and see if its viewable. I suspect it wont be.

    • Trafficmystic, I have right clicked but cannot find the source to take link out of. Can you tell where to find this?
      Thanks
  • Make sure that the text file you uploaded is called index.html. If you upload them without an index file then the server will just display the file titles. Click on them and they will open up.

But to display like a regular web page you will need to have an index.html page up there. If you post further details of what you are trying to do it might be eaiser to help you.

    Cheers

    • Senderbot, one is a banner file the other is an Aweber opt in code javascript. Does your answer apply to both? Sorry I am not that techy
  • Can you show the link??? So we can see what is the problem in live!?

    • Peter, I am not allowed to post the link until my post count is 15 or over.
      Thanks anyway
  • If you mean you have uploaded the files and can see them but when you link to them or click on them they are not working then it may be just a matter of playing with the links to get them working.

Try typing in the full link. If its in the public_html folder then use the full URL to make sure they uploaded okay - ie http://www.yoursite.com/banner.jpg
When you type that does it open in your browser?

Sometimes some FTP programs upload but fail. It looks like the file is there but it actually isnt. In the FTP program you may see a 0kb next to the file.

But trying to open the file directly in a browser may work too. Then if that works you can either use the full link with the http://www etc or try just the "banner.jpg" on its own.

    Cheers

    • Max, i have taken your advice. I get a HTTP error 404, so its not found. Have you any idea what I should do next? Apologies by the way to all of you here, you are all very helpful but its obvious you are all way more experienced than me at this , so thanks for your patience.
