Hello,
Here is what happened. I have had berrely developed blog. Then 1@1 by thier mistake deleted domain name . Long story. Now to redeme this domain name I have to fax them about this and pay $40 . Which is stupid and unfair. Yes. They told me they will not wave it. Upsetting. Also, the hosting service was a guest type. I am not owner of this. So I can not really go to my server and load data to my computer. I had only to Cpanel access. Now what I am thinking is: Can I somehow connect my nothing doing old domain name ( totally unrelated to the deleted) to my databasa? I pointed my old domain name to the same nameservers. but what is next?
I have not backed my blogs unfortunately. So I want to save some data and then use it on new blog. Please any advice.

  • In regards to your web hosting service I think you are better of to go with smaller companies.
If you need to get your database and have access to cPanel you just simple backup and download your backup...Id the domain registered in 1and1? If yes when as I said transfer it to some smaller company which cares about clients much more than those huge companies.

    • I like 1and 1 for their domain prices and private registration. And you are right about small and big businesses at this point. But my question is what can i do to save some of my data?
  • Hi,

If you have pointed your old domain name to the same nameservers you will now need to be able to login to your 1&1 hosting account and "add the domain". That way the 1&1 servers will recognise the domain as being one that needs to point to your hosting account.

If you dont have access to the hosting account you will have to contact support. I've had problems with 1&1 in the past. I lost 3 domains because of a problem with them, their support was bad and they refused to honour their money back guarantee.

When you get your database back find a good smaller host such as Fatcow or Midphase

    Cheers

    Max
  • oh guys, you have no idea how much crap i had to go through to recover my domains with 1and1

Needless to say, BBB statistics speak for themselves. I WISH i saw this before buying from them:

BBB of Washington DC & Eastern PA: BBB Reliability Report

    It's horrible!
