Perl/Cgi-Bin Script help needed

I'm having a problem with a script on one of my sites. We've just moved it over from a server on Media Temple to Hostgator and now the script is no longer functioning.
The site has a quote script on it which uses perl files in the cgi bin folder. On Media temple, they allow direct access to the cgi-bin folder, so when someone hit the index.html site they were redirected to cgi-bin/index.pl using the htaccess file.
However hostgator do not allow direct access to the cgi-bin for security, so they have told me i need to have a file access the index.pl file remotely.
Does anyone know how do to this? I don't have any perl/cgi experience - so if someone knows how to do this (i would imagine it isnt too complex for someone who knows what they are doing) then i'd love to hear from you.
I'd be happy to pay someone if it is more complex than an easy fix that can be posted here
