Masking Domian using Frames

I know its possible to mask a domain using a frame.

My problem is that the domain can easily be checked by looking at the source.

My question is: Would there be a way to store the link in say a txt file (or something similar) restricted from public access that it could pull the link from? So the source would show the address its pulling from but access would be restricted so the link cant be seen.

I don't mind paying for a solution to this problem!

  • Hi,

You can also use domain masking at the domain registration level. If you keep your domains separate from your hosting, when you forward your domain you can do it by changing the dNS nameservers or by simply setting up a forward. When you set up the forward most domains registrars ask if you want to mask the domain.

I use Netfirms.com for domain registration and their forwarding control panel is great for this.

    • hmm not really ideal..

Do you know if it would be possible to do what I am saying with some code?

      Cheers..
  • The only way to achieve this is to setup some kind of proxy that fetches the information from the target website and displays it but this will usually screw up things such as cookies, sessions etc.

    • Is this something you could do?

It is an affiliate link, so how would this cookie, sesions issue affect it?

      Cheers
