Quick Question For You Technical Folk :)

Hey there

I changed the .htaccess line to redirect there.. I do not know how this affects spidering or SEO of my website. Could somebody please explain.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Why don't you just set the forum as you home page, so that you don't have to redirect anything?
  • Is that possible from within the forum software?

    I had a look around but I dont think there is an option to do that. I use IPB 3.0.3 so I might be missing something here lol..

    But also, how does redirecting affect the spidering of my website? Will it follow through to the forum by itself? I also set the spider options in my option to treat as a member.
  • If you're redirecting with .htaccess and you want to have good SEO results, I suggest you add [L,R=301] to the end of every .htaccess redirect line.
