Slow to login what is this: srchdetect1.predictad.com

I am not a programmer but I have been having this problem for about a week, when I go to certain sites (IE) logging into my email client the page hangs and at the bottom left hand corner of the page I see it is hanging on this srchdetect1.predictad.com

And even once logged in, it will hand on this for a little while sometimes as long as 20 seconds. What the heck is srchdetect1.predictad

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Leo

It might be a tracking one pixel image that is not loading and because it doesn't load IE takes forever to display the page. Any else have any ideas?

Thanks, I got it sorted, not sure if that was it, but all is fine now.

Are you using any external components on your website, especially ones that load from the server you mentioned, srchdetect1.predictad.com? They were probably having some server issues and they were slowing down all websites that use them as an external component.

If nothing else, you should let them know about it - they probably already know about it, of course, but they should realize that people care about it and they need to make sure it doesn't happen again.

If you keep running into this issue there are a couple of workarounds:

        1. Switch to FireFox browser and install the AdBlock Plus plugin
        2. Block the ads altogether using your HOSTS file. This is a little bit more advanced but there is a good tutorial on it here:
          mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
(you'll need to copy & paste it since I'm too new here to post links yet.)
        Good Luck!

I was just going to say about putting it in your hosts file.
It can cut page load times from 1-2 minutes to < 30 secodns for large pages on some sites.
