Selling multimedia packages online

Hi,

(sorry if this is wrong forum, looked through all categories and found this most relevant)

I'm creating a website, where I have an information product. This product is made up by:
- MOV / FLV files
- MP3 files
- PDF Files

When people have used Paypal to pay me, I want to redirect the user to some specific page where the download of this multimedia package of 1-3GB can start.

What service is suitable for this?

Thanks,
Lars

  • Many shopping carts (zencart and others) have digital download capabilities that should do what you want. Wordpress also has a couple of plug-ins for this.
  • Thanks for your fast answer.

I don't need a shopping cart solution as I only have one product. I give people a Paypal one-click button, and then I want to send them to some link with an autostarted download.

Also: It's the traffic I'm a bit worried about.. If I sell 500 products and each version is 3GB, it's a traffic of 1,5TB.. And my provider won't like me! ;-)
  • Transferring that mach data is not particularly cheap. Using cloud storage, which would give you fast downloads, and flexible usage (so you only pay for what you sell) would cost over $250 for the traffic you mentioned. (3 GB x 500 sales)

I just launched a service that does this stuff ( Sell Downloads - DeliverMyFile.com ) but the current pricing goes out of whack with such huge numbers. I'll have to re-evaluate that.

True, I didn't expect to be really cheap either! :-) Do you know about some really easy services you can suggest?
Also, I would like to pay very dynamic, so the service just picks the best dataplan/or pays per download.

I like the idea of your service.. But goes WHACK X 100 with large numbers hehe! ;-)
  • It's a large amount of data so it won't be cheap.

    You could try e-junkie:

E-junkie Shopping Cart for selling downloads & tangible goods

Google for a coupon and you can get a couple of months free.

  • Mcoroklo: I've added a more advanced price calculator to the system now so that massive transfer like we were talking about are more reasonably priced. (it works on a sliding scale... the more you use, the cheaper it gets, to a point)

If you wanted to give DeliverMyFile a try, I'm currently looking for a few testers, and giving you $5 in credit to play around. Sign up here: Become a Beta Tester - DeliverMyFile.com

(Tried to send PM, but as you know: You need quite a lot posts to do that).

I just tried out your service and really liked it

    I have some questions:
    • Can I use send the file without Paypal? I might need to add bank transfer to my service
    • How serious are you with the service? If I use the service I would prefer it would be online for some years at least :-)
    • How fast is the file transfer?
    • Can the service handle uploading 2-3GB easy?

    Thanks,
    Lars
