What kind of hosting panel does Godaddy have?

Hi,

I just bought a high ranking domain with transfer to Godaddy included in the price.

What i did not know is that Godaddy does not support Cpanel and i am really scared thinking about what kind of database i will have to deal with:confused:

I can not transfer my domain 60 days from now so i am stuck with godaddy for two months.

Anyone have any experience with this host?

  • Annette, you will be pleased to know that the actual main panel isnt quite as crowded as the homepage.

    There are a few screenshots if you Google for them, i cant post links yet.

    But it still isnt ideal, cpanel is definatly better...i would get out of there as soon as the 60 days is up.

  • Well, there's a big difference between your domain registrar and your host. GoDaddy offers both services.

    Doesn't really matter who you register your domain with, I just like to keep them all under one registrar. GoDaddy does the job fine. You can change your DNS servers, and that's the only thing you'll usually have to mess with.

    As for your host, I would not recommend GoDaddy. Their prices are on the high side, their service is available 24/7 but their knowledge is questionable, and the host features aren't really a good deal. I would definitely recommend something with cpanel.

    Even if you do change hosts, you don't need to transfer your domain. Just point the DNS servers to the new host. You also aren't stuck for 60 days, you can change DNS as often as you want as far as I am aware. It can, however, take around 2 days to fully propagate.

      I always thought that was a great price, I have had that price for about 2 years now, with about 15 live websites on the deluxe hosting account.

      Godaddy is pretty easy to get around and since that is where I started I have never had an issue with them, their knowledge is good.

      I think the main problem is that in the past many IM have had issues with them and left and have not dealt with them within the last 2 years, they have improved on lots of things.

      The hosting control panel is easy to navigate, if you do get hosting there its not hard at all..........

      But if I were to start all over again I would probably have started at a different hosting account, not because I have any issues with Godaddy though.

  • I've had to transfer many clients out of GoDaddy servers. I wouldn't suggest them for hosting. Keep in mind though that they are one of my 2 top choices for domain registration. Just not hosting.

  • You know, I truly believe that godaddy is probably the most unreliable, un intuitive, uninspiring, un american, un believable, mess of a hosting company I have ever seen, the servers they use are in canada, (no offense, but godaddy is the worst I have seen in 15 years of being a hosting customer) Stay far far away.
  • In my humble opinion, GoDaddy is a horrible domain name registrar and web host. They've gotten a huge market share and are now following in the self-destructive footsteps of Network Solutions.

    I recommend Hover for Domain Names, which is powered by OpenSRS and backed by the power of Tucows Inc., the largest publicly traded domain name registrar in the world. For Web Hosting, I recommend Site5 or HostGator or something - anything other than GoDaddy.

    If you can afford a VPS from Site5 for $50 a month, they've VERY nice.

    I changed the nameservers to Bluehost.

    Problem solved.

    I hate Linux hosting.
