Urgent Help - need to recover data from DVD

Someone has approached me with a DVD that contains videos and images of family, the disc is clearly recorded but it shows up as empty on the PC.

These images are highly valuable and I need to recover them as they cost this person some money to transfer to DVD.

Can anyone suggest a method by which the data can be recovered from this DVD?

Im hoping someone here may have had a similar problem or knows how to resolve it.

Thanks in advance.

Is the disk unreadable because it is scratched? If so, you might be able to buff out those scratches.

If not, can you verify that the DVD was ever successfully read by a computer?

Hi the DVD has no scratches at all, it has alot of data on it, and im currently runing a trial dvd recovery software and its picking data up.

I am looking for a reliable solution that will enable me to recover as much of it as possible.

Have you looked at GetDataBack? Also, if you have multiple CD drives, you could download Knoppix, and see if it can read the DVD.

Hi thanks for the suggestion, I haven't actually come across Getdataback.
I will definatelly give it a go.

Unfortunatelly I only have a single CD Drive.

There are some decent looking softwares that I have come accross but they do not fully work in trial mode. I don't mind paying but I dont want to pay and then find out that it actually is incable of doing the job.

Will give your sugested software a go.

If push comes to shove, take the disk to a specialty shop, one that specializes in home movies and dvd's. It's a pain, but they know all the tricks They do it for a living.

        Problem Solved !

Another friend of mine happened to have a software package called "Power CD DVD Recovery" which did the job rather well.

Recovered all images and videos from the disc.
Very easy to use software and does its job accurately.
