Crawl Error - Domain Not Found

Hey all, just wanted to see if anyone can provide some insight into my issue. I have a hostgator reseller account and for the last few years always build sites without an issue.

I have run into an issue today after checking in webmaster tools where it says that my domain is not found when I check crawl errors. I did exactly everything I usually do (for the last 3 years) and I have never encountered this problem.

It usually just take a few hours to get indexed but this one particular site was created days ago. I checked the name servers and they are pointing in the right direction. My site is up, I can visit it without an issue, anyone run into this before? I fetched a bot to see what it would say and it has a status of pending.

Thanks!

  • I think it crawled the site at a time when your server went down. Just wait for it to re-crawl again and everything should be okay...

  • open up a DOS command prompt window and type in "ping yourdomain.com"

if it response properly, means your name server setup is correct and the DNS is able to locate your site.

I had this issue once before. I remembered going back to the domain registrar and re-keyed in the name servers (even though it was correct). I had earlier keyed in the name servers during domain purchase, it got registered corrected but somehow didn't propagate the name servers to the DNS.

  • your machine could have dns cache. so better to ping from nwtools.com so you actual realtime status
