Best platform for a community/membership site

Hi there,

Have been looking into creating a membership/community/networking site & just wondering what would be the best platform to use?

Elgg? PHPizabi? Or maybe just Drupal or Wordpress with plugins?

I quite like Elgg, from the limited research I've done, although not too keen on the available themes out there - anyone done any work with it before?

Main features would be member & group profiles, blog, forum & networking capabilities.

Any and all suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Sissy

Dupal commons is the best system to use - very simple & does what you want out the box. Give me a shout if you need help setting it up - I'm doing it for a couple of people at the moment.

I've read that Drupal is quite robust for a community site - however, the project I'm working on has the potential to get pretty big - it's for a NGO. What do you think of Elgg, or PHPizabi? If you're familiar with them, of course.

      Cheers.
