Issue with google Adsense display

9 replies
I'm having a weird (to me at least) issue with Google Ads. They don't always display on both my pc and my laptop. I just did a search for two very popular terms, teeth whitening and tennis, and no ads show up. I have adsense on a couple of blogs, and I know the ads must be there because I get some revenue so people must be clicking on them. But when I look at my own blog no ads display. To check some more I just looked at a site sold at Flippa where the seller specifically says he has Google ads placed. In the sidebar where the ads are supposed to be it says 'Ads', but nothing shows.

Any ideas from you techies?

Thanks,
Johanna

    Could you show the code where you pasted the ads?

      Hi Jaime,

      One of my blogs is learntospeakspanishsoftware dot net, on that one I have a plugin Advertising Manager with the code inserted. The ads are supposed to be on the left sidebar. On another blog bacterial-vaginosis-treatment dot net I have Oh'z who sees ads installed.

      The code for the Spanish site is:

      <script type="text/javascript"><!--
      google_ad_client = "pub-0497691803148685";
      /* 160x600, created 8/18/10 */
      google_ad_slot = "3857216887";
      google_ad_width = 160;
      google_ad_height = 600;
      //-->
      </script>
      <script type="text/javascript"
      src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
      </script>

      That's just standard Ggle Adsense code. Like I said I do get clicks. FYI I tried some other searches and the ads do show for those, but like I said sometimes on sites I don't own I have the same issue.

    I am able to see your Ggle Ads in two computers using Mozilla and Chrome (with learnspanishsoftware), I think you are not able to see them because you are the developer, try it with a proxy.

      I tried the proxy but nope, nothing there. The thing is, it's not only my own site, it's other sites too:confused:

        Do you have Adblock installed? That can cause problems with seeing your Google ads.

          One more theory to this Could be that Ggle does not have enough inventory for you, from time to time, or maybe they servers screw up on what should be presented .

          yeah , if you use fir*f*x or chr*m*, check whether or not installed adblock on addons or extensions

          if you are not using a browser that was written above, check the programs installed on your OS, There may be adblock

          Another solution, try not to use the proxy provided by your ISP

          hope this helps

            "Do you have Adblock installed?"

            No I don't, but shouldn't that block all ads and not only Google?

            "One more theory to this Could be that Ggle does not have enough inventory for you" --Then how do you explain I can't visualise ads on a site that reportedly had over $ 300 revenue from Adsense? (searchgoogle dot us dot com). Besides I'm having the issue on both my laptop and my pc. so I'm thinking it must have something to do with my IP, but I checked wether my sites are banned, they are not.

              FYI I've solved the problem. Did a web search on 'can't see Google adsense', turns out it's a fairly common thing caused by adware/spyware or other malware that modifies the host file, thus blocking access. I did a clean-up, deleted the infected host file

              C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

              (windows should automatically make a new one on re-boot), restarted my laptop and bingo! Adsense re-appeared.

              Just though't I'd let you know

              Thanks again,
