this happened to me when I was hosting all my blogs with a different host and they had terrible service for database-driven sites and so what I had to do was install the automatic update plugin and update my WordPress that way. It sounds like you might have the same problem. Who's your web host?

Try checking your source codes. In most cases you may just need to Re-install.
