What (in your opinion) is the best free resource for learning jQuery from scratch?

Just a quick question:
What free resource would you recommend for learning jQuery - I can use plugins etc. ok, but when it comes to customising them, I get stuck because I don't get the syntax structure etc.
Can you recommend anywhere as a good point to start (aimed at jQuery newbies?)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
