Need Help Setting Up VPS

Wel"l this is a real learning process.

I downloaded putty.exe and was able to get into my vps. Finally.

Now I need to download virtualmin into my vps.

I tried the Wget command but it says it is not available.

I then tried Yum but I get this error message

thread.error: can't start new thread

So how can I get this virtualmin downloaded into my VPS.

This is really driving me Crazy...

Can anyone assist me?

Thank You

If wget is not available, you got a pretty crappy distribution (I assume, you tried wget and not Wget as you wrote). I would contact the VPS provider for a better image. Most providers have images with pre-installed control panels, you might want to try asking for one.

I am using Cent 05.. I tried Yum errors in VPSLinks. There was a link to linux questions there but it is no longer valid. As far as the google search I found tons of the same error but they all applied to different things and none of there solutions seem to work. Any more suggestions

Did you try editing /etc/yum/pluginconf.d/fastestmirror.conf and set "enable=0" as mentioned in that first link I posted?

Also, this error seems to be somewhat memory related. How much ram does your VPS have?

Of course the CentOS image provided by your VPS provider might be messed up; some of these guys don't know what they're doing in regard to the operating system images they provide. Which VPS provider did you go with anyway?

I looked at the host you gave me but could not get any answers when I asked some questions. I went with sh3lls*net because of the spam tolerance policy. My software is for sending "Mass Newsletters" and there will always be someone to try to use it for spam. Sh3lls will send you an email and tell you ID XXX is spamming and gives you a chance to fix the problem (my fix is suspending them permanetly)

I did try the your solution with the command, it did not work

What did work is yum --disableplugin=fastestmirror install virtualmin
I first had to ( yum clear all)

I also found out that virtulmin takes 200MG of memory to install not to mention that you already have memory in use from Cent OS or what ever you are using.

I am sure I will have more questions. Thank You for Your Help
