does ANYBODY have any ideas or can help me? It's causing my itunes feed to run incredibly slow (i.e. a 40mb download is taking about 35 minutes from my site)

None of these queries have anything to do with the speed a video or anything else downloads.

Sure, if the site is resourced to the max then it can slow page load.
But the queries load on call, eg. when the page is loaded.

The network connection is one thing that is related to download speed and how global that connection is.

The page loading itself is slow, but that is because of the requests that are being made and the size of them.

    Your landing page currently requires
    228 requests

    3.2 MB of data

    Which is terribly high.
    That should be addressed first.

And on the video page there are 60 requests, and at least 40 of them are not needed.

The queries that you are seeing is not from the theme, it is WordPress getting the data. It can't work without them.
You could try a cache plug-in, but again, it has nothing to do with your downloads.

The fact that the download is 40mg, that is a very large download.
It would probably be worth looking into something like Amazon S3 storage for file downloads of that size.

The hosting environment itself is another thing, shared hosting, dedicated, can make a difference, but the network they are connected to can be an even bigger difference, especially the network location compared to your location.

It would also be worth breaking that large video down into a series of smaller videos.

At the risk of sounding dumb, what tool are you using to view # of request? Also, it was a 40 megabyte download, not mg download. Finally, I installed WP-Optimize plugin and that seemed to help a little bit...I just want to make sure this doesn't happen more in the future...
