email marketing question

i know a little vba, and could automate emails without aweber, icontact, etc. is this a bad idea?

    Anyone with a little Outlook or even gMail experience CAN automate emails... doesn't mean they should...

    Seriously though, one advantage to using Aweber is their reputation with the ISPs. Service providers such as Aweber and GetResponse have very high deliverability rates and to me, that is well worth the investment.

    I am a software developer and I have thought about creating and using my own email software, however, the advantages, benefits and pros of using Aweber instead, seriously outweighed every argument I had...

    Other benefits of using Aweber over your own software:
    • messages would be delivered from their servers, not your own PC, almost eliminating any risk of problems with your ISP
    • subscribers are housed in an online database -- not consuming space on your own hard drive
    • subscriber details are automatically backed up for you several times per day
    • you can access and manage your messages and subscribers from anywhere (you're not just limited to emailing from your home or office)
    With so many benefits to using Aweber, why reinvent the wheel. Aweber has almost everything any marketer needs and like I said above, at just $20 to get started (actually just $1 for the first month), it is well worth the investment, IMO anyways.

    The most important benefit of using an email service provider (ESP) is that they have high email deliverability rates because they manage to get a very high IP reputation score.. Many factors go into getting a high IP score, one of them being keeping the spam you send to a minimum.. So before signing up with an email marketing provider, first check their IP reputation to make sure your mass marketing emails actually get delivered... You can check the IP score or IP reputation at SenderScore.org
