Hey guys, I'm looking forward to create my own antivirus software. Now i have some question and I would appreaciate it REALLY if you help me a bit:

1. Where can I find the best programmers? Odesk?
How much is the programming going to cost in the end approximately?

2. What merchant solution do you recommend? Clickbank? Or others?

3. Do you know any awesome salespage/landingpage designer?

Thanks a lot,
Valentin

  • lacruz its really a nice Idea I heard from you.
My name is Hassan and I am from Pakistan me and two of my friends recently developed an antivirus which is a 1st antivirus in Pakistan and registered with our government.
We also challenged KasperSky & AVG that our antivirus can scan a USB of 8GB within 10 Second and are giving a warrenty that our antivirus can scan upto 100 Gb of Data within 10 second. Secondly only our antivirus is providing a file repair system with it. You can try other best anti viruses, they are not giving this feature.

You Second Question is about Marchants
Like in Pakistan there is no facility to open a paypal account. but we can only use 2checkout.
If you want to sell you products globally over the internet I recoomed you to open a merchant account with 2checkout so that people of other countires (like from Pakistan) can also be able to purchase you products for good sale.

    You question about SalesPage
I can develop a shopping cart for you & also can intergrate marchant gateways like, paypal, worldpay, moneybookers, 2checkout etc.
Thats no problem for me and for my team.

    • Hassan, very interesting!

Is it possible to license your product as an SDK? I mean something similar to how Avira, Bitdefender and Kaspersky do; i.e. Avira SAVAPI.

Does your anti-virus system contain heuristics analyzer?

      Yours sincerely,
      Jyri
  • One thing more that you need to purchase a dedicated server & SSL to sell your product over the internet for better marketing.
  • Hey!

It's not about the WHAT, more about the HOW why I have written this post. I have no idea about how to create such a product.

Let's say, I choose Clickbank for the payment process and product promoting. What do I need consider here? Especially when I want to get affiliates promoting my product?

    • In my opinion Valentin, you are not ready to get involved in such a project by the sound of your reply.

You can't just invent projects up without amassing some talent and contacts in that field. Fine if you want to outsource all the project, but do you have any experience and track record in doing so?

I'm not discouraging you, please don't get me wrong, I'm actually trying to help you move on the right track, but it seems from your post that you just thought up a project without knowing where to start or without knowing where it will lead you. Inventing as you go is a bad option...

All your questions can be answered by a quick Googling of the info Valentin.

Surely, you must have some kind of talent yourself in a specific field without the need to outsource it all unless you haven't mentionned something? If you want to succeed with a project, you'll need to do some of the dirty work too, unless I missed something.

Perhaps, someone else wants to comment and suggest the How's to Valentin

  • Don't develop antivirus software. Just don't, its a waste of time and money.
It takes a lot of know how and skill to do it. And you need to constantly update it etc.
For example there is just one big open source antivirus software and they are not close to the professional providers of antivirus software.

    • I think you won't make much profit in that field, the top players have big antivirus labs, they have to check for new viruses every hour of the day.

Just to get a measure: It is considered bad if you can't deliver an update every three hours by the major computer magazines.
  • Hope you have a million dollars to invest. Good luck.

    • I recommend again creating your own antivirus software. Unless you have specific technical knowledge, it's not a niche where a small team can compete effectively.

One idea is to sell an existing antivirus package as an affiliate and see how it goes. Good luck!
  • Do you have ANY idea what this envolves???
  • it works like this:

  • well i don' see why the op can't develop his own anti-virus. We should encourage him if he has the skills and knowledge to do so.

    My Questions are:

    - Do you have the knowledge?
    - Why are you talking about clickbank etc. and affiliates unless you have the product?

If you do not have the programming skills or you are looking into outsourcing a anti-virus project to someone who will do the work for you and you make profit from it, then I must say, you are very amibitious

  • As a note for future readers. The best and most reliable option here is to get a white label off an existing manufacturer. Last I recall companies like F-Secure and Kaspersky did white labeling. That way you don't have to worry about the development, update and the like.

Either way it's not something to attempt lightly. Even white labeling will require a solid business case and serious dedication.

  • stop this madness

Writing an antivirus software is super complex and will cost you millions to keep it up to date.

    • Dear friend,

had your read the comment written by Hassan you could see that he and his team have already created an antivirus software. I'm not proposing programming one from scratch but rather suggesting co-operation with a company and a product that already exists.

Also, I'm a programmer, a systems architect and a security specialist with two decades of experience from this field, so I'm quite well aware of how difficult it is to develop an anti-malware software. It is not as hard as it may seem if you have the right people to design and implement it.

And, as I already stated, we're not talking about creating something out of nothing but about building on an already existing foundation.

      - Jyri
