Hi does anybody know of a way either on or offline of doing what Google does for keywords analysis?

This is the basis of my keyword research and other than Market Samurai which IMHO is over priced is there any other way of doing this:

Process for Keyword research -

Google adwords keyword tool.
Search parameters:
enter root keyword>
settings>global search> phrase match>average searches over 2k per month.
check resulting keywords>click on viable keyword (Google opens)
>attach " " either side of chosen keyword on google search page> check comp levels> delete and start over......
Surely there is a tool that can be set to find relevant keywords to a search term, then search in quotes each of those sub keywords within set parameters and compile an ACCURATE list?
Not being a programmer- its over my head!
