question about tracking codes on websites

This is a silly question and I should know this, but my brain doesn't work on Mondays for some reason...

I want to track my website hits from different sources.

But I want my links to be like mysite.com?ap_id=person1, mysite.com?ap_id=person2 and so on.

What do i need to do that exactly? Can I just do that in my cpanal or google analytics?

Help me out

Thanks

  • I think Google Analytics should do the trick, but if you really want to get into in-depth tracking, especially of affiliate/lead offers, then take a look at tools like Tracking202 or the like. T202 has a free version which is very powerful by itself. Although fair warning - it's not for the faint of heart.

Thanks kjhosein. I know that Google would work, but how do you set up indiviual links (like affiliate links) for your website with Google Analytics?

Tracking 202 is mainly for CPA offers using CPC based advertising (which I'm using) and wont help for this project.

Thanks anislagen. Woopra looks powerful but I don't think that I need to buy something for this, just need to make about 20 tracking ids for my site so I can track the diffrent type of traffic coming in.
