    Settings > Discussion

For the old posts which already have commends enabled; you need to do it manually for each of those posts.
Go to edit post and scroll down you will see Comments and Track back. Disabling that will remove the comment box.

If you want to remove it completely,
Do it by editing the temple. Use firebug and find which file to edit.
Take backup before doing any changes to the files.

i don't think that you now require answers after reading the answer from eguynth

I don't have that option in my Settings! Are you talking about Wordpress.com or Wordpress.org? I'm using the self-hosted one.

Anyway, I found a plugin that works fine.

It is for both, you just have to click on more option and display the comment boxes first. When you edit a page you'll see a box on top right corner "more options" (or some thing similar) you'll see comments, slug etc... Just tick it and it will display the comments at the bottom.

And sorry I couldn't reply sooner, glad you could find a plugin btw.

      Agreed.

But I'm curious, why exactly would you want to remove comments?

Although you can use plugin for this, I would not use extra plugin for something which is already built-in inside wordpress itself.

Actually in wp3.1+ the setting is hidden by default. (I wonder for what reasons they hide it as well).

To turn off the comments in wordpress pages, go to your page, and look at the top right:

Click that button to expand, and then tick "Discussion" to see "Allow Comments" setting as eguynth suggested.

    Sumit,

Go directly to the Comments tab the fourth after the 'Posts', you can all the comments as per thew pages listed and can delete it from there. Apart from that for permanent comment off option you need to check in the 'Discussion' option in 'Settings' tab.
