Wordpress https

Bit of a dumb question...

Trying to make some booking forms on a wordpress site secure so I can ask for credit card details.

I found a plugin called Wordpress HTTPS which can just make certain pages of my site https, and sounds ideal.

And it seems too simple. If I do that, will the page be secure to send credit card details? I expected the process to be far more painful, and am seeking some reassurance

thanks

  • No worries. I have discovered where the pain lies. Hostgator and addon accounts vs reseller accounts.

    Ah, what fun lies ahead.

    • In order to make SSL work on your website, you have to do more than install a WP plugin (that will be the last step).

You have to create a SSL certificate and "add" it to your server. I think you will need an unique IP and not a shared IP, in case you want to do this.

I have done the same steps once using hostgator+a dedicated IP+a free SSL certificate from StartCom Free SSL Certification Authority to secure a clients online shop.
