site hijacked problem

Hi warriors
I have a site sitting at no 3 out of 14,300,000 results.
The problem is someone somehow has attached a page onto front of site so it shows up first, you have to click home to get to my site.

I dont have a clue where to start looking to solve this problem.

But i know the warriors will solve it for me.

do a google search for dangers of smoking and the number three spot is my problem.

    I will go and have a look... but you can be in a different position from my region. Better to place the URL or the name of the url...

  • I did what you said and found Buzzle - dot - com.

    Did not see any problems, but had my script blocker set to "KILL".

  • Robert its a wordpress configuration error!... and i am damn sure about it,... will have to be not only be corrected in the back-end settings but this entry will have to be removed from the database at the core level... you know how to access and use the PhpMyAdmin, dun you?... PM me for all the details...

  • If you're using linux/unix servers, install RkHunter and DenyHosts to help to prevent hacking. As far as your site's issue, i don't know which site is yours, but i hit the first 4 and didn't see anything that seemed to be what you described...

  • Sorry man, but you're not #1, at least not from [Cincinnati, Ohio, US]; I even checked "Dangers of Smoking" and "Howto Stop Smoking"; you weren't even on the first page.

    I googled your exact domain name, just to find you, and went to your website from google, and found no problems. However, that Alexa link you gave is obviously an exloit of some kind of javascript you may have had on your page at some point.

    You can defeat stuff like that with the CANONICAL link element. Also, always use "noodp" in your robots meta tag to prevent dmoz from doing the SAME things to you.
