My image files keep closing

I have tried everything from system restore to downloading some stuff to help with this but for some reason every time I try to open my image files or any file with a jpeg image the folder just closes and if I am on a site trying to upload it closes my browser too.

If any one can help me with this I would really appreciate it.

I have googled and done all I can to try to figure this out on my own before asking for help but I just can't seem to fix it.

Thanks,
Kim

Oh btw, I use xheader which closes automatically but if I save in another format (can't remember which, I always used jpeg) it seems to be able to handle that? just more info...:confused::confused:

The only image formats that a browser understands is GIF, JPEG, PNG, and sometimes BMP. Using something else may cause the browser to consider it a downloadable resource, not something that can just be displayed. I'm not sure what would happen if you pointed to a downloadable resource in an IMG tag, as I've never tried it, but this could have something to do with it, if you're saving your image as anything other than JPEG, GIF, or PNG.

most files are jpeg that close on me and gif seems to save and work just fine but I also just realized that wmv files also cause a problem and can't keep my moviemaker.exe open either.

I have a wso that has wmv files and while I am able to keep it open after sending the error report as long as I don't close the error report, it will close the folder after I close the error report... just weird and I hope someone can tell me if I deleted some extension or other thing that I might need to keep my image files open

    Thanks again,
    Kim

Try making sue that all your windows files are up to date. I think your assumption in your last responce may well be correct. That you accidentally deleted the extensions from your viewers. Which if there is an update available it should pull them up just fine.

Have you tried opening up these types of files on your computer. Is it doing the same thing now matter how you are trying to view these types of files.

You might also try running a virus and malware scan just to be certain that this is not the issue.

I am no computer wiz by any means and what you say you are experiencing I have never come across before my self. The only problems I ever seem to have is not having certain fonts I need when playing around with my images.

That and vista does not like it when you try to add them either so I get forced to just use them as they are with out making text edits half the time. Which to me is not a real big issue.

Not sure which virus protection program you have but if you have not tried commodo yet go over and get that and take advantage of their geek buddy trial. It would get you squared away for your issue.

Hope this helps sorry I couldnt be of much help.

My pc is so full that it just won't do the windows updates anymore. just ordered a 16gb flash and will try to take a bunch of stuff off and maybe then I can try that. I'll check out commodo just to see if it helps though.

    Thanks,
    Kim

For me is obvious, try re formatting your computer and leave some space, your problem is local and is easier to do it in this way rather than searching the reason of the problem

This is not an image or space problem. I think this is an viral problem and you should check for that.
