Flash Based Ebook (No Download) Question

I'm creating a product about a system I developed for doing something so its not your average PLR type thing where you just try to sell 300 or more of them at $7 and are happy with the pay day. I'd like to reduce the risk of having the book downloaded and illegally distributed.

So my questions are

1. How would one create a flash-based book which users would have to log in to their members area to read, flipping the pages with the click of a mouse?

And

2. Is there an even better method that just isn't occurring to me.

I believe that even the flash-based version can be ripped from the site by someone who understands that stuff but I'm glad to count on the high probability that my target audience would either not have that ability.

Thanks for your help,
Eric

I assume you are starting with a PDF? If so there are quite a few programs that can turn a PDF into a flash movie. There are even some websites where you just upload a pdf and it spits out a flash movie. They appear to be paid though. Here's one: FlipDocs - Convert your PDF into a Flash Flip Book...Free to try

I personally wouldn't put your customers through the hassle of forcing them to read it via a flash script, which they can only read while being online.

Let's face it, if someone wants to rip it, they will always find a way. And in the end, you're only punishing your loyal customers that paid for the service.

Go with PDF and trust your users. Warrior Forum is known to have users that are willing to pay for good material.

I agree with Londrag. Using flash might not be such a great idea. You'll be alienating iphone users. That's a fairly big market. I know that I personally use my iphone to read a large portion of my ebooks. I think the money you'll save in using flash that is harder to pirate will be negated by a huge amount just because of all the iphone users you'll lose.

I appreciate the good advice, people. The factor that had me leaning towards flash is that it is targeting no one in this field. Thanks again.

using flash isnt a good work around because you can just download the flash file however you could code something into the flash file where it wont show anything unless its running off of your website but someone could just decompile the flash file and still get your ebook you may be able to obfuscate the file to stop this

also someone could just take screenshots of each page of the ebook and remake it

if your interested in going through with your idea pm me i could code everything securely for you for a price

The easiest way to copy flash or streaming content is to record it with Camtasia the first time. Then you can replay it offline as many times as you want.
