Using Joomla

Hello friends. I am using Joomla (Version 1.6) website. I have some problem in the url.

My current url is showing like this :-
www dot 123 dot com/index.php/about-us

but

i want the above mention url like this:- www dot 123 dot com/about-us

(I have ticked in SEO Friendly URL)

What i have to do now ??

    joomla is known to have poor SEO structure out of the box. But the good news is you can get modules to help out.
    Do a search for joomla modules that include the letters SEF in them, there are quite a few, but most allow you to change the URLs manually.
