  • wordpress or drupal
  • There are 3 top class content management systems: wordpress, joomla, drupal
wordpress is easiest of all, joomla in middle and drupal has a huge learning curve.
But if you want to develop really complex websites then I would recommend drupal. Otherwise wordpress is the most used blogging platform and cms these days.
  • If you want a big site. Definitely go with Wordpress.

    • As a professional web designer and developer, I would recommend the absolute opposite. Exactly what technical reasons do you have for recommending to 'definitely go with Wordpress' for the OP's stated needs?

Anyway, I'd suggest Joomla as has been recommended in previous posts. That or Drupal - if you're prepared to learn.

  • I definitely recommend Joomla for your task as you can expand it to be as big & feature filled as you need it to be using components.

    Hope that helps.
  • Wordpress is the most recommend CMS across the globe. Most of the webmasters use Wordpress to host their personal blogs/sites. It is the best CMS available with a large number of plugins which makes the management of your site/blog easy.
  • What is the most recommended CMS (Content Management System) for ASP.Net - what would you vote?
  • That would depend on how "big" your talking. I just started with Drupal, and I find it rather simple. There is alot of reading and learning involved, but you stated you already have some experience with web development. Wordpress is not really a CMS, but it is the simplest to use. I would reccomend Drupal if your willing to put some effort into it, Joomla if you have the experience and want a pretty robust site, and wordpress if your new and just want to throw something together.

    • Guys, can anyone please point to difference (if any) between CMS for .NET?

  • I recommend you a wordpress CMS, because it's powerful and easy to use.

You can easily promote your site using the SEO Plugins.

    Thanks.
  • Are you building from scratch? If so, use a framework like Codeigniter instead. Otherwise, like they said, use wordpress and joomla for quick startups since they have the most readily available plugins and themes.
  • PHP is good and go for Joomla which will be very easy and fast.

    • PHP? It is not CMS! Joomla might be easy but not as easy as Wordpress. So, if you need easy and fast CMS, wordpress is best. However, if you install too many plugins, the site loads very slow.
  • Stay away from DotNetNuke like it's the plague!! It's atrocious, and I'm a .net developer.
  • Wordpress is the best match of your requirements.
