My Wp blogs keep getting malicious spam posted on them! Help!

Hello,

I recently sought advice here regarding how my WP blogs keep getting malicious spam like "buy cialis online" posted on them, and I have followed the suggestions I got e.g. I have to delete them manually (since I didn't do a backup before), disable the plug-ins I have activated, change all my site/host passwords, and get into the habit of doing a backup. However, I still see these annoying statements creep onto my sites after such corrections; thus, what can I do when these spam messages keep on appearing on my sites?

Any assistance would be much appreciated, as it's really annoying to keep deleting them/installing the backup, thanks.

    Hi Dora

Have you any spam comment plugins installed e.g. akismet?

    • Hello,

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I do have that plug-in installed, but I was referring to the spam that appears in my *POSTS*, and not in the visitors' comments (which is more common, I suppose). I don't know how the heck these people can just slip the spam into my posts itself...what can I do to combat such attacks on my blogs?

  • Hi,

Suspect the links to the drugs site were inserted by one of the Wordpress plugins. Try deactivating all the plugins and see whether the links still appear.

If confirmed due to one of the plugins, all you have to do is activate one by one to check. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. However, I am also getting the same problem with a WP blog that is using a PAID premium Woo Theme, so what do you think?

  • This problem has seen to be rising issue this week. I have read more than 10 similar threads these days.

I think the sites hosted on that shared server are all affected. You might need to check the security on server.

For now, I would suggest you to delete all the contents from the site, ask the host to create your account on another node and restore the scanned backup of your site on new server.
  • Dora - Something very strange going on. Can PM me your e-mail so that I can get in touch with you?

    Need to login to check.
