  • Resolved..I simply removed the code...duh.

    Next question: Can I put this in my sidebar.php to use for site navigation?

    <div id="navigationcontainer">
    <ul id="navigation">
    <li><a href="#">Link 1</a></li>
    <li><a href="#">Link 2</a></li>
    <li><a href="#">Link 3</a></li>
    <li><a href="#">Link 4</a></li>
    <li><a href="#">Link 5</a></li>
    <li><a href="#" class="bottomborder" >Link 6</a></li>
    </ul></div>
  • You sure can - though I think I would put the bottomborder class in something other than link 6 (for future ease of rearranging links.)

    P.S. - There's probably a widget in there that will do it all for you... If those are page links.
  • If they are page links or category links just move your Pages or Categories widget to the sidebar.
  • Burt,

    Does your theme support widgets? You can find out by going to 'Design > Widgets' and see if it does. If yes, you can do away with editing your sidebar.php and paste that code inside a Text widget and put it on the sidebar. Much easier and hassle free.

  • I've come across a couple themes lately that have that nav block hard coded in place. It was even displayed by default if no other widgets were assigned to the sidebar. In other words, even if you add a widget to the column, it still doesn't go away.
  • @Gary - just copy the sidebar.php file delete the code from the sidebar.php copy file and upload it to your site overwriting the original sidebar.php or comment it out by //

  • @Leanne - I was just pointing out that WP theme builders have been making this mistake lately, breaking from normal sidebar behavior. Fixing it is certainly easy for those of us who understand PHP and how WP puts everything together.
  • @Gary - sorry my bad

    I think a lot of the themes, that I have seen, with the hard coding in the sidebar are software generated.
