Hi,

What webmail is good to use to pop3 your email messages?

Gmail is a problem for me because it automatically pop3 my emails without an option to disable automatic mail fetching. Unless someone knows how to do it.

  • According to me, Hotmail is good to use.
  • MindReality, why not use MSN Hotmail? Outlook is from Microsoft just like Hotmail, maybe both can do the transfer of files or emails you want.
  • I have Gmail, Yahoo Mail and Hotmail.

Gmail cannot disable automatic Pop3 which is quite annoying.

Yahoo Mail and Hotmail do not have imap, which means I cannot transfer all my old emails from outlook to store on in them.

I have posted a message in gmail forums to disable automatic pop3.

I hope more people would join in to request that feature from gmail!
  • ymail and gmail and hotmail are good
  • I have used a lot of email services in the past. The best free one I have found is GMail from Google. I use outlook on my pc and gmail stores all of my mail on their server as well so if i lose my mail file on my pc I still have my emails. I dont know if there is a way to upload your old mail to the free gmail service, you may have to pay for their premium service to be able to do that.
  • GMX & Hotpop is good..you can try them. If you are not comfortable..I think you can take a look at mail2web.com - may be they might have a solution for you.

  • According to me,Google is the best for pop3
  • I can't imagine using anything other than Google Apps GMail for domains. I used SquirrelMail and others, geez, even as far back as Pegasus Mail. GMail is a little overprotective as far as spam goes, but is really a great system and ties in well with the other Google apps.
  • Postfix is very much like sendmail, it is just better suited for scaling out and delivering massive amounts of email very quickly. It also is well organized in sending several emails destined for a single server on the same connection, I believe. That doesn't fit the bill on what this guy is trying to accomplish. He'd need SquirrellMail or the like. Again, Google Apps for Domains GMail.
  • gmail for webapps works well on this
  • Hi there,

    Yeah postfix all the way

If it's too hard, try with dovecot hehe

    good luck
  • Yahoo mail is really good to use....
  • I always use hotmail, it has some good protection and anti spam features and you can delete spam easily.
  • I give Google Apps for email a vote.
We host many domain with Google Apps.
Anti-spam works pretty good with Google apps.

  • There are lots of e-mail provider sites in the market. People are using all these websites. If you have problem with your gmail account then you can switch to Hotmail and Sify mail.com. These are also wonderful email provider sites. These are secure and easy to use email sites.
  • for me i think google is still the best.

  • What do you mean transfer files from Outlook? The paid version of Yahoo mail $20 per year allows you to get Yahoo mail from inside Outlook. I use Outlook and Thunderbird myself.

    • You can do the same thing and a LOT more with Google/Gmail and it's 100% Free!

      Google/Gmail FTW! lol
  • Definitely use gmail.
  • Aaaaand another one for Gmail. I've backup up emails from other locations straight into Gmail, so I can vouch that it works. My intermediate was Thunderbird, though, but Outlook should be more than capable of pulling it off.
  • Thunderbird works flawlessly with Gmail via IMAP or POP. I highly recommend it. Especially since it's free!
