Hello all,

I am interested to find out what is the best way, programatically, to find out how many backlinks a website has.

What service or website would you use to get this information and what cost would be involved.

In the past, it was possible to use yahoo site explorer but we can not use that now.

thank you in advance

The first step in building backlinks is to find the places from which you can get quality backlinks

Alexa.com will give you a break down of all website backlinks.

Simply type in your domain name, and you'll see under "External Links" a number. If clicked, a query will appear where you can see the sources of your links.

Alexa seems slow to update so probably better off with one of the other methods

Got this from somewhere, not sure how accurate this would be:

    yourdomain.com -inurl:yourdomain.com

That should pull out sites with all your domains, and exclude the ones from your own domain name.

There are quite a few of posts on Fiverr who offer back links for only $5. Several different page rankings you can chose from.

There used to be a tool on the Google search engine pages. It was a "backlink" URL that you could click. I don't see that nowadays, and I wonder why.
