Hi,

Now i'm thinking to open new web page (News, articles) . But i don't know which cms is better..

Im trying to choose between Joomla, datalife.

I never used these cms before. I know a little bit wordpress, but i think wp is better for bloging..
#programming #choose #cms
  • Wordpress can be a full CMS, and look nothing like a blog. It has far more plugins and support than Joomla. Though, I've seen successfull sites built with both.

    • agree with this one
    • I agree with Chris.
CMS is overrated at so many levels.
It ties you in its own specifics and soon becomes more of a barrier than a useful tool.
Lightweight blog - e.g. wordpress or similar is what I would go with if I was starting now.
  • wordpress is the best one coz it also got SEO tricks in google easily and joomla is quite gud but typical and uncomfortable to handle and datafile is out of the race when wordpress and joomla are here.
  • Wordpress is the best CMS out there, you jsut need someone who knows how to use it.
  • uuuuuuuuuuuu
  • WordPress can be used for more than just blogging
  • Wordpress, you can kick-start your project with a template from themeforest dot com
  • WordPress all the way! You can be guaranteed updates and more plugins will continue to be developed for it.
  • I agree, it really depends in what you intend to do in your website. Before u decide which cms to use you need to decide what kind of site you want.in most of the cases wordpress will be the easier option
  • Wordpress.. very easy to learn and lots of useful plugin.
  • I think wordpress is best search engine to all others

    • I've used WordPress and Joomla. I would always choose WP as it is easy to understand and offers better features in terms of plugins, themes etc. over other CMS.

  • I recommend wordpress too. I have been using it for 2 years now!
  • i think u can chosse wordpress this is best of blogging but u can u this.
  • Wordpress is a smart choice for this type of site you want to build, wp is very simple, easy to manage you can modify it on fly
  • Wordpress is easy to use. I've moved my site from Joomla to Wordpress. It was pretty hard but i did it.
  • I'm kind of new at this and I've tried both Wordpress and Joomla. By far Wordpress has been easier to use and understand. Keep in mind I'm not a programmer, just a user.
  • Wordpress was used as blogging platform only a long time ago, but now things are changed. Wordpress has become a fully mature cms now.

  • WordPress for everything! With so many plugins and themes available, the possibilities are endless

I would say Drupal. It is very simple to use and Seo friendly. Wordpress would be another option. It is pretty nice, and you can get a theme to make it look like a magazine.
  • for me Joomla is best
  • Wordpress is better then both of these.
  • I'd go with WordPress! Now that WordPress does Taxonomies right there is no need to use drupal or other solutions. It's ok, I understand! =)
  • W O R D P R E S S all the way
  • Definetly wordpress or joomla
  • Here is my recommendation:
    1. Wordpress is simple and easy especially for blogs but it can be used for other type of sites.
    2. Joomla needs more learning but once you master it, it's very fun. I like joomla because i can code custom solution easier than when using wordpress.
    3. Drupal. This one is not easy to learn and not many themes providers for this cms. You can learn it as the 3rd option if you have spare time.

    Hope this helps.
  • Word-press easy to understand .take help from expert who know wordpress well.
  • I also think word press is number one because it user friendly many free themes and plugins and lots of free courses and tutorials you can Google them
  • wordpress is the best CMS. It is very easy to use and it has many plugins and easy to use.

Just think what you need in your website and search it for in google and you will find all the things and the plugin for it. Plus it is seo friendly and there are many seo things in it
  • choose all of them
  • Wordpress all the way
  • I will go with Joomla.
    Reason:
    1. I like it.
    2. Loads of free and paid templates
    3. Loads of free components/modules/plugins.

Not that wordpress does not have all those. Its just my preference and Joomla looks and feels more professional than wordpress to me.

    Thanks
  • I'd go with Wordpress for sure!
  • In my opinion , wordpress is the best platform.
There are lots of easy options and plugin.
it you choose , Hope it'll be helpful.

    • If you wasnt as true article site / news site look at the scripts that comewith your hosting accunt. Forget free, go with a paid host. The price is in line.
I just wrote an article on reasons you need web hosting.
There is a ohp script called

PHPLD even though its a linjk directory great article and news script,

Softalicious includes article set up, its good
Here is one i installed a while back

      sorry cant post link

If you go with wordpress make sure you go with an article theme there are a ton ofthem but are extra.

This is a matter of choice, so pick one and roll with it. I would not use wordpress for an article directory but thats just me.
      Iam always thinking scalability.

      Here is my model.
Website --- contains the static data and links outward to a blog for dynamic content. website links to article directory. website links to a cms like phpnuke that houses your links and new feeds. This can be propagated across different servers, this way they don't all fall down.
This is all do able with 2 good paid hosting accounts
  • Hello..
In my Opinion Wordpress is easier to learn how to customize. However, Joomla is more powerful if you would like to add more functionality..
  • Just go for WordPress for a quick start or google blogspot for free one.
  • Wordpress would be the best for a quick start. I am also using Joomla and I find both of them great for web development.

Let me know if I can help you Warrior to Warrior.

    Good luck

  • I have been a web developer for many years and used many CMS platforms including XOOPS the almighty but WordPress is the best by far. It's so good that I changed my company policy and ONLY use WordPress for all design as of 3 years ago.
  • Hi, well why don't you go for sitecore one of the best cms platforms that will help you solve your queries as we are sitecore certified partners[/URL] having successfully implemented many projects on the same ,we can certainly help you in this regard.

Must wordpress, its easier than all others.
But now I'm using blogspot because of google.
  • Wordpress is the best. I choose Wordpress definitely for SEO
  • I used DotNetNuke years ago.... It was awesome as an "out of the box" CMS.....

However, I switched to WordPress simply because of the number of available, reasonably priced plug-ins... It is impossible to beat!

    God Bless,

    Rich

    • I found many of you are in LOVE with WP..in fact there are only few which support .NEt ..event I found only 'RichBeck' was used DNN..

I will go with Drupal than WP probably Joomla ..if not then WP would be the last option which I can try..but honestly ..Wp sites are look more like blog than websites..there are few exceptions..

If someone allow me & if its suit my pocket I will have own CMS to be built than any GPL CMS personal option.
  • i use wordpress because user friendy
  • Wordpress, always.
  • there are so many wordpress magazine style themes that can fit what u need If you intend to make a news / article site

    • Joomla CMS is an good content management system allowing easy management and maintenance of your website, with little or no programming knowledge needed. It offers all the required features right from adding and updating everything such as your images, article pages, navigation menus, and users to more elaborate in terms of technology enhancements. Increasing the functionality of a website can be done by number of extensions offered by Joomla software.
The WordPress content management system is an ideal platform for bloggers as it is easy to install and use. You can customize it according to your needs. Moreover for its customization you don't need to have extensive programming knowledge. You can make your website more dynamic by using WordPress plug-ins which can be installed easily. This technology gives your website an in-built platform allowing visitors to comment on your posts automatically. I still opt and recommend WordPress. But it doesn't mean Joomla is not good. Joomlah is great for more professional look and for neater design wherein you dont have to look for themes that suits your business.
  • My Vote Goes to Wordpress. If you want looks then go for joomla because it has got lot of themes.

  • Why dont you try to make your custom CMS ? if not, id suggest you Drupal

It's Wordpress every day of the week for me. It gives you so many options to customize your site and the plug-ins make possibilities nearly limitless. You can turn a simple blog into a forum, membership site, an online shop or all of them in one!
  • Hey Friend,

WORDPRESS would be the good solution for you. Comparing to Joomla, WP admin panel is quite straightforward to manage the multiple things.
I would definitely recommend WP to you.

Choosing a Content Management System depends on the type and the purpose of the website you want to develop. If you want an effective and free CMS I suggest you to pick between Drupal and Joomla!
  • Wordpress can be a full CMS, and look nothing like a blog. It has far more plugins and support than Joomla CMS. So you should go for WP
  • Wordpress is the best option for you because it also got SEO tricks in google easily and joomla is little bit confusing if you are not an expert
  • I have tried both Drupal and WordPress for my projects. I have found Drupal more flexible than WordPress. Drupal provides scalable, powerful, cost effective and high value solution to manage and grow Internet presence of a website. My choice will be always Drupal.
  • Hi there

Hey Wordpress very easy to learn and you can get lot of different plugin. If you need to try some thing other with Joomla then try Drupal.

    Thanks
  • I've used WordPress, Movable Type and many other content management systems over the years for all kinds of sites and for a variety of clients.

WordPress is usually the best solution because it's easy to get started with - but becomes a powerful platform with the right plugins and themes.

I reviewed the most common content management systems here - WordPress, dedicated ecommerce hosting offers and complete site builders. In a nutshell, unless you have very specialist requirements, WordPress should fit your needs with a pretty small learning curve.

  • For news/articles, I'd recommend you WordPress. It's the most user friendly.
  • Save yourself some time and go straight to wordpress.org

Do NOT use wordpress.com though, they are not the same thing.

  • Everyone says WordPress so let me add why I think WP is a good option: It appears to have the most momentum and surpassed Joomla regarding that. This leads to more extensions, tutorials, a stable future and makes it a good investment. Technical reasons like "this or that is better solved in CMS XY" are not that important imho.

I do however think that WP is starting to get a bit too loaded and complicated.
  • WordPress has far surpassed the rest of the CMS's out there. Joomla and all the rest of dinosaurs. Their code is bloated and not secure. I have built sites with all of them and in good conscious can not recommend anything other than WP.

You can do some amazing things with this. Most of the Fortune 500 now use it and it is not because it sucks.

We have built some amazing sites and functions with it. From huge memberships sites to stores with thousands of items, to quick squeeze pages. WP does it all. Be careful what plugins you use. 95% are crap and full of code bloat. The less plugins you use the better.

    Cheers,
    Andrew
  • There are many CMS available but you should probably go with the standard and save yourself the hassle of wasting time and efforts at a later time.

The standard would be wordpress of course.
  • wordpress is quite simple and easier than other cms
  • Wordpress should do it!

    Cheers
  • What I Think is that you should use Wordpress, since you have little bit knoledge of it and it can be pretty easily customized.
For News and Articles website use of wordpress is very good.
You should add the ping links of rss article/news websites in your wordpress settings tab.
This will work as an agent to make aware that you have posted a new news.
So it will also increase your traffic if your post is of that quality.
Joomla and Datalife Engine are also good but will take you some more time to make your site live and you may find Datalife Engine especially a bit difficult.
    So all The Best.
  • I'll always champion Wordpress. I know a lot of sites that use Joomla, and many developers swear by it. My personal preference is Wordpress though - good for so much more than just blogging!!
  • I recommend WordPress over Joomla! Joomla! is extremely labor intensive to use and is quite complicated. In contrast, WordPress is much easier to work with.
  • If your only plan is to publish news and articles, you should go with Wordpress. It is easy-to-use, free, and most importantly offers lots of free themes and plugins.
  • Thumbs up for WordPress
  • Go with Joomla.
  • I'd recommend Wordpress.

    • I love wordpress.
You can make more than blogging. Some wordpress themes are beautiful and various. You can make everything about website with wordpress platform.
  • You can easily convert wp from a blogging platform to a full powered cms. There are a lot of plugins and themes, that can help you along the way.
And another plus is that wp has a great community, which means great support.
  • Wordpress undoubtedly, and the niche you are talking about is best fit for Wordpress. Wordpress all the way
