Strange Firefox Problem

Starting yesterday, every time I try to go to Pay Pal in Firefox, I get the following:

Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Size of a request header field exceeds server limit.

And yet I have no problem getting to Pay Pal with Internet Explorer. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? It's very annoying to have to change browsers every time I need to check my Pay Pal account.

  • Your Firefox (enhanced) prefetching settings may be too high (for PayPal's liking) - just Google it, for instructions to lower/turn off the setting. Or look at a plugin like https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...asterfox-9148/ to tweak that.

    • Kokopelli, thanks for answering. I just found these instructions to disable prefetching:

      1. In the Firefox Address Bar type about:config and press Enter.
      2. Find the option that is named network.prefetch-next and double-click on it.
      3. Change the value to false.

However, that didn't seem to have any affect on Pay Pal showing up. I'm still getting the "400 Bad Request" message.
  • I think I've solved it. I just went into the Firefox privacy settings and removed all the Pay Pal cookies and now I'm getting in.
  • Did you restart FF after changing the prefetching setting?

How about "pipelining"? That's another setting that can cause issues.

Or, maybe, you have one of those "anonymizing" extensions that conceal/spoof/obfuscate your browser headers?
  • In my opinion their is no doubt that firefox is best browser but their is also no doubt that firfox have lot of bugs other than any browser.
  • Haven't the foggiest. It does seem better not to use Internet Explorer. Though for Skype it would seem better to use IE as they are now owned by Microsoft.
  • I have this trouble when I purchasing a thread or bump from the Warrior forum. You have to pay via Paypal, so I did. When coming back to Warrior Forum after purchase I got the exact same error. Thankfully everything went through properly, but it freaked me out LOL.
  • Clear your "History" and "Cache" then restart your System and After this Check you won't get this Problem again !
i had been facing the same Problem !
  • Thanks to all of you for sharing this information.
