  • Why are you hosting with GoDaddy, you should know better....
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • godaddy sucks. You should never host with the same people that you registered your domains with.

    • Why? I have a namecheap domain and was going to use their hosting, would that be bad?

As for godaddy, they support SOPA so don't use them solely out of principle!
  • Use HostGator! And Namecheap.com for domains! Also free privacy whois!
  • YEah! Why Godaddy ?

    • I will never got with GODADDY domain and hosting
      It sucks a lot
  • I bought nochek.net on GoDaddy, and it took me 3 months to transfer it to my registrar. I'll never deal with them again. I think it's generally a bad idea to host with the people you register your domains with. Their hosting is usually an after-thought money making service rather than an actual hosting platform.

  • Dreamscape Multimedia is good. But I may be bias. Pricier than the cheap GoDaddy's and Hostgator's, but solid. http://www.dreamscapemultimedia.com
  • I have domain on Godaddy but I'm hosting with securesignup.net. Both very good
  • I doubt that GoDaddy servers are having security leaks on that scale. But I would recommend host gator instead of GoDaddy
  • Lesson learned... Make sure your websites are clean of malware/viruses then move them out of GoDaddy. Best of luck!
  • As security measure check your own computer for vulnerabilities first, then keep up to date with security upgrades in your Wordpress installs and/or other software installed.

I have accounts with Hostmonster and Hostgator.
Just once I was affected by a Wordpress security flaw (I was up and running again after 6 hours of troubleshooting the issue)

I have never tried to host a website with Godaddy (I have bought domains there, of course) and honestly, I'm not keen on giving it a try soon. (Due to massive negative reviews from many different sources)

    Good luck
  • I hosting on ramhost, look like good!
  • From past experience I heard godaddy hosting isn't the best if you're hosting php scripts.
  • As almost everyone else has said, GoDaddy may not be the best hosting choice. But you can just as easily run into the same issue with other hosts.

To answer your question - Yes, I've seen the problem you're describing.

You'll want to let GoDaddy know that this has happened. If malicious code is being injected into files via a breach of a script somewhere, it may have infected other users' sites if you're on a shared server. It may have even originated via a breach in another user's website.

You'll also want to search for a script to clean the malicious code from your site, or find someone who will do this for you.

You'll then want to make sure that all of your third party scripts are up to date - like WordPress, Joomla, etc. Security holes in these scripts are frequently exploited. You'll also probably want to change both the password on your WordPress, Joomla, etc. admin accounts. It would also be a good idea to change your password on your GoDaddy hosting account.
  • I've never used host gator, but the reviews I have read have never been raving. I recently hosted a few sites with web hosting hub. I've been pretty pleased with their level of support. No comment on godaddy, never used them.
  • No issues....., GoDaddy is one of the best...
  • No security issues with Godaddy... but run, run and run....
Get the hell away from godaddy at all costs.
  • I'm novice at this web developing and hosting and I only do it because by default i'm the only IT guy in the family. I host a website through godaddy, I haven't had any issues but I wouldn't mind changing if it was easy enough. I would want to do a pre-paid plan for like 10-100 years so I don't need to worry about the site. Does any one have any recommendations?

    thanks
  • i will never refer you to host Godaddy try another website for domain hosting.
  • Godaddy is good for domain services and hosting.....
  • I've been hosting with Godaddy for several years, in the beginning I found GoDaddy to be good value for money but the speed of my site was a little bit to slow.
  • How to point godaddy domain to godaddy hosting?

Hello i have a goddady domain and previously it was hosted at moonfruit and pointing there. Now i purchased goddady hosting for that domain. Please tell me how to point the godaddy domain to my godaddy hosting.
  • I've heard bad things about GD - I'd avoid them.
  • Hostgater vs. godaddy
  • Just as many have already mentioned, HostGator would probably be a much better option. However, that is not your question. I don't use GoDaddy anymore but I do think it's important to re-iterate something most people overlook... and that is to protect your Wordpress control panel logins with strong passwords. There are so many malicious Wordpress tools out there and a lot of people neglect this with a weak password.
  • GoDaddy is terrible. It's slow, it's expensive, and definately not worth the money. Definately go somewhere else, not Godaddy
  • Fellow Warriors,

I have used HostGator in the past. My WP site was so slow...... All it had was some basic plugins WITH a caching plugin...

I don't know about GoDaddy's "old" hosting platform..... When I saw they had such inexpensive cloud hosting... I had to try it out..... I used the coupon code LOVEHOST. It gives you a half price deal....

I'll let you know how it goes....

    God Bless,

    Rich
  • I don't like to have my domains registered and hosted with the same company. I tried GoDaddy's Cloud hosting service because it was only $10 a month, but I hated the fact that they have their own custom interface (no cPanel). Plus, when you want to install a new application through their installer (in their interface), you have to wait in line in a queue with everyone else.

Can you believe that it took them more than 8 hours to install WordPress on one of my sites? I finally just gave up on them and moved elsewhere...
  • I wouldn't use Godaddy for hosting. Heres what i'd do:
Register a domain with Godaddy and host on a hostgator server. Namecheap is also a good domain name regsitrar and they usually offer free whois guard with the purchase of a domain.
I agree, people generally over look this simple way to bring a little added security. Its important to through in a mixture of symbols and capital letters when creating a password that way its not so easy for hackers to guess/ crack.
  • Do not use GoDaddy for hosting OR domain registrar.

I repeat, DO NOT use GoDaddy.
  • Are you sure its godaddy's issue? Maybe you have a hijacker inside your wp-theme.. there's this thumb.exe which lets hacker inside your folders.
  • godaddy is only good for registering domain. You must choose hosting which can provide you best service at cheapest rate. There are many hosting companies.
  • I like godaddy hosting, it works really well with non-stop running applications, never time outs.

  • I used hostgator earlier but now I use Godaddy. But I am not full satisfied. I'd like to find a better solution.

    Anybody knows hostinger.com?
  • I had my site hosted on a local hosting service provider. Had several issues. Recently I have switched to justhost. It is way better. Can't say about godaddy though.

    • I never use their host, why not try lunarpage and hostgator
  • Godaddy is never be better from the free hosting. So, you should search new hosting company. I recommend you to use fatcow, justhost or hostgator
  • host gator is the best
  • I never subscribe to companies who offer to do all service in one. There is always a flaw with either one of their service or even more. Go daddy hosting is not the right route to go. Hostgator rocks!!
  • A few months back I had a couple sites I have on godaddy injected with an iframe adware...was in the body tag so I just deleted it...no problems since.
  • Eww, GoDaddy.

I've registered domains with them because I can get ridiculously cheap deals, but I prefer A2 Hosting for my hosting accounts. (I have access to two shared and a VPS with them. All but one of the shared accounts are mine; the other is for work.)

I used to be a GoDaddy customer but they refused to do basic system administration or enable features to integrate with CloudFlare seamlessly.

    • Curious as to what the issue was here? We have tons of GoDaddy customers using CloudFlare.

      What we have seen:
Some reps get confused at other companies because they don't see their nameservers active. As such, they think that the site actually isn't hosted there.
  • I love GoDaddy but its interface... Oh, I spent lot of time got used to it.
I think GoDaddy is more suitable for domain registration, but as a hosting hostgator.com and hetzner.de - are better.
  • I have to say I generally love GoDaddy's support, but their proprietary system is what stops us from hosting most client with them.
  • GoDaddy Deals on domains are awesome, but as far as their hosting, stay far as possible lol
  • I had few same issue's, I also contacted them regarding that. They didnt give me proper feedback. So i decided to take a refund & switched to Bluehost & to be frank, Bluehost is 100 times better then Godaddy !
