  • Another option is to contact a developer directly if you've used their software before.
    For example you've used a WordPress plugin and like it then contact that developer.

    • I have found freelance programmers before using simple Google search with area mentioned. A lot of freelancers have their own websites and work through there and in my experience they are the most professional. You wont find them on odesk, freelancer or ffiver.

    oDesk always best, but now a days its little bit hard to get a good worker by oDesk. So, you should try "Guru" also.

    • I am an online programmer. I'm expensive though.

      I've had friends who've had luck with eLance. In my real life career, I've seen a lot of issues with code from contractors.

      If you are just trying to get something up and running you are probably OK. If you want something that is going to last and not cost you a ton every time you want it updated, you probably will have to look hard to find that person, and it will not be cheap.

      I like their "Urgent" or "Confirmed" type short info.
  • I always used scriptlance but

    1. they are quite expensive
    2. i recently had a bad deal there, and lost $150 for receiving nothing. the staff of scriptlance did not choose my side although I was 100% in my rights...

  • From personal experience I'd say be careful with freelancer.com people just bid to get a project without looking at the description and bail out after several weeks.. odesk is rather good, however got to be picky about who you hire there, seriously picky.

  • Has anyone that has hired programmers from these places ever have major problems with any of them?

    • From the 5 projects on scriptlance (between $50 and $1000 value) I had 4 completed correctly and extremely good, one ended badly... Maybe bad luck, dno, but I think choosing the right coder is extremely important.. so always talk enough with your favorite bidder before selecting him.
