How do I give contractors access to an expensive online database/system without losing control of my membership due to fraud?

Hi ya'll,

Let me see if I can describe what I am looking for in as succinct a manner as possible.

I'm looking for a system (preferably free) which will allow me to give my contractors access to some of the expensive blog development, research and educational system memberships I own. I am concerned about losing ownership due to fraudulent username and password manipulation to some of these systems.

I am sure that I've heard of systems/software that will allow me to lock my username and password down for online systems while allowing third parties access through their own username and password. I am assuming the third party system/software serves as a buffer or mask, if you will, for my personal data while allowing online access to the system to be viewed by someone else seemlessly

Can anyone steer me in the right direction, please?

Looking forward to your answers and thanks for the help...

You may want to take a look at https://lastpass.com/

I use it all the time to provide contractor's with access to my accounts. You can easily remove that access at any time as well.

The free Lastpass account will likely be all you need.

Thanks, Nigel I appreciate the info.. I will give a shot and see how it goes. Hopefully that will be all I need.

      Take care...

Nigel, Wanted to follow up with you. Lastpass.com has been great. It's interesting how many membership sites I have that can't be shared with vendors no matter what you do. The password, email and userID are too easily changed from within the system making it irrecoverable. Nonetheless...this is a wonder tool.

      Thanks again...

    No problem.

I have the Premium account (costs $12 per year) which provides an option to track any changes made by the person that I shared access with.

When the box is checked, I get an email if username, password, etc. gets changed.

When hiring an odesk worker I usually change the password myself after they have completed the assigned task so that I don't have to worry.

    I hope this helps

Another surprise! I didn't realize the paid membership had the password and ID tattle tale. I thought the premium account was only for phones, ipads, etc. I really need to take a closer look at this. Missed a lot in my rush.

Thanks again and have a great day,

      Ivette

I'm a little confused can you shed some more light on this service? how's it differ from roboform isn't this just a simple login management system... how do you use this service to give access to others for your accounts? I too have many ppl who complete work for me and I've been given them direct access to cpanel and WP-admin now I've been lucky enough that noone has crossed me but interested to know what others are doing to secure themselves.. sounds like a business model to create a secure avenue for others to work on our behalf

I used to have a premium roboform account, but in my opinion, even the free lastpass account is much better.

The free lastpass account allows unlimited passwords instead of being limited to 10 with roboform.

Lastpass must have been built with internet marketers in mind, because they make it brain-dead simple to share passwords with your contractors. This picture shows how you share:

As you can see, each password can be shared with up to 50 people, and access can be removed just as easily.

There are also several other advantages as well.

I personally upgraded to the premium lastpass account for $12 per year primarily so that I can use it my android phone and my android tablet.

On the android phone, lastpass basically provides you it's own browser, and the benefit is the lastpass browser is that it opens a lot of pages and allows me to do a lot of things that I can't do with other browsers.

I also use the free Dolphin browser on my android phone for general browsing, but the lastpass browser gives me quick access to my internet marketing business on the go:

      1. odesk
      2. autoresponder
      3. the back office of my wordpress and other sites
      4. my project management system
      5. really, any website or web service that I access with a password

Even if you go with the free version, Lastpass is really a no-brainer.

      Hope this helps

Why dont you just give them a dump that contains only 10 rows per table. From there they can develop w/e they need and you integrate it.
